Vijay has thanked his fans and the print and television media for the success of his latest film Jilla. Along with Ajith Kumar’s Veeram, Vijay’s Jilla too hit the screens during (10th January) in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere. The film is said to have created a record for a Tamil film’s opening in Kerala.
Taking part in the ‘success meet’ of the film held at the Residency Towers in T. Nagar yesterday, Vijay thanked his fans and the journalists from the print and television media. “My fans need to be thanked for the hardwork they put in braving the cold conditions; they had erected banners, cut-outs, etc. which I watched on video. I also want to thank journalists for giving positive reviews about the film which helped in the film’ success.
“Usually, I don’t take part in such events but have come here specifically to record my thanks to my fans and journalists. Jilla is an important film in my career produced by R.B. Choudhary’s Super Good Films. I’m also happy to note that all the five films I acted under this banner have turned out to be successful,” he concluded. Director Nesan, producer Choudary, music director Imman and comedian Suri took part in the event.
Distributors have predicted that Jilla might rake in more money than Vijay’s super hit film Thuppakki which released late in 2012. A Chennai distributor of the film said that Jilla raked in Rs.1.6 crores in its first three days in Chennai alone. “It’s a record for a Vijay film to have collected so much in its first three days,” he said.
